Pretty sight isn't it. Those are the Annapurna mountains viewed from the roof of the hotel we stayed in. |

We left
Kathmandu and travelled for quite a long time through winding roads that bring us from 1350m Kathmandu to 827m Pokhara the adventure capital of Nepal. We started our journey on a public bus at 7am and reached Pokhara at around 3pm. We had plenty of toilet breaks and food breaks in between. Sometimes you can catch a glimpse of the snow capped mountains along the way.
|
Some perspective. From Pokhara, one can see the mountains really clearly as they are just 'next door'. |
Once in Pokhara, we noticed that it is significantly much more cleaner than Kathmandu. Perhaps it is because of its status as a tourist gateway. It also has its own airport, so if one chooses to skip Kathmandu and go directly to Pokhara for the Annapurna base camp trek, it is possible to do so to skip the long bus ride.

Phewa lake. On the hill in the distance is the World peace stupa. |
|
Colourful fisherman boats. The lake is a popular destination among the locals. It costs some money to travel to the island in the center where there is a temple. |
|
Just chillin' |
So we just spend the evening having dinner in one of the nice restaurants beside the lake and did some window shopping along the street before we head back to the hotel. We'll start our trek tomorrow morning! Next
